Privacy Policy

StreamEar (the "App") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, how it is processed, and your rights — across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and Android.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Anonymous device identifiers

• APNs token (iOS / iPadOS / macOS) — used to deliver push notifications.
• FCM registration token (Android) — same purpose, via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
• Anonymous UUID (macOS / tvOS without push) — generated locally for per-device features like AI quota tracking.

These identifiers do not contain your name, email, or any personal information. They are stored in our Supabase backend so the server can route the right notification to the right device.

1.2 User preferences (synced to our backend)

• Preferred language for AI translation (one of 8 supported languages).
• Notification severity / region / quiet hours preferences.
• Keyword filters you add.
• Folders and favorite alerts you save (per-device unless you sign in — currently no sign-in required).

1.3 App activity (analytics)

• Crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics — anonymous, no personal info.
• Aggregate counters: how many AI Geophysicist analyses were used today (for quota enforcement only).

1.4 Data we do NOT collect

• ❌ Your name, email, phone number, or any personal identifier.
• ❌ Your location (GPS or otherwise).
• ❌ Your contacts, photos, calendar, microphone, or camera.
• ❌ Browsing history or third-party app data.
• ❌ Financial data — payments are processed entirely by Apple / Google (see §5).

We do not sell your data to any third party.

3. Push Notifications

Notifications are routed through APNs (Apple platforms) and FCM (Android). You can:

• Disable all notifications in OS Settings → StreamEar → Notifications.
• Toggle severity / region / event filters inside the app's Settings.
• Set quiet hours per device timezone.

When notifications are disabled in OS settings, the server-side push system still respects this — your device token is marked inactive on first delivery failure.

4. AI Translation, Analysis, and Geophysicist

To translate alert titles and summaries into your preferred language and to generate AI analysis (strategic impact, fault-line analysis on earthquake taps, market correlation), the relevant text is sent to Google Gemini via our Supabase edge functions. We do not include your device token or any identifier in that request. The returned analysis is cached in our backend so repeated requests don't re-bill Gemini.

Per Google's Gemini API terms, paid API tier data is not used to train Google models.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

StreamEar offers an optional Pro subscription (monthly or yearly) unlocking translation, AI analysis, AI Geophysicist (30 analyses/day), unlimited folders, PDF export, and Market Intelligence.

• iOS / iPadOS / macOS / tvOS: payments are processed by Apple via StoreKit. We never see your card, bank, or Apple ID.
• Android: payments are processed by Google Play Billing. Same — we never see payment data.
• Subscription state is verified via Apple's Transaction.currentEntitlements or Google's billing client. We only store a boolean "isPro" flag.
• Cancel anytime via iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions or Google Play → Subscriptions.
• Refund requests are handled by Apple / Google per their policies.

6. Data Retention

• Local device data (SwiftData / Hive cache): retained until you uninstall the app.
• Server-side alerts: stored 90 days then auto-deleted.
• Device tokens: deleted from the server when the OS reports the token is invalid (uninstall, reset, or notifications-off failure).
• AI cache (translations, fault analyses): per-language cache, retained while the underlying alert is in our 90-day window.
• Crash reports: retained 30 days by Firebase Crashlytics.

7. Your Rights

• Access: email support@streamear.app for a copy of any data tied to your device token.
• Delete: uninstall the app (clears local data) and email us with your device token if you want server records purged sooner than the automatic cycle.
• Account deletion: StreamEar has no user accounts. There is nothing to "log out" of. Uninstalling the app deletes your local data.
• Notification opt-out: disable in OS settings.
• Data portability: export your saved folders / favorites via the in-app PDF export feature.

8. Children's Privacy

StreamEar is rated 17+ (App Store) / Mature 17+ (Google Play) because it shows news content covering war, terrorism, disasters, and other strong themes. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete any associated device data.

9. Security

• All network traffic uses HTTPS / TLS 1.3.
• Supabase backend uses Row-Level Security policies.
• API keys (Gemini, OpenWeather, FIRMS, Alpha Vantage) are stored only in server-side Supabase secrets, never in the app binary.
• Push notification tokens are stored hashed where possible.

10. International Transfers

StreamEar operates from Kuwait. Backend services (Supabase, Firebase, Gemini) run on US-based infrastructure. By using StreamEar you consent to transferring the limited data described above to these jurisdictions.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy when we add new features or change service providers. Material changes will be announced via in-app banner or push notification. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
